Notifications & installing the app

Add SilphBoard to your home screen for quick access and push notifications.
Both are optional and free. Installing gets you quick access from your home screen; push notifications need a community set in Trainer settings so we know which events to alert you about.

Installing the app

SilphBoard is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — it installs straight from your browser, no app store required.

Android & desktop (Chrome, Edge)

Look for the Install app button — it shows up in the banner at the top of the page, or under Settings → Notifications. Tap it and confirm to add SilphBoard to your home screen or app list.

iPhone & iPad (Safari)

iOS doesn't support the one-tap install prompt, so it's a couple of manual taps instead:

  1. Open SilphBoard in Safari (this doesn't work from Chrome or another browser on iOS).
  2. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up) in the toolbar.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add in the top-right corner.

SilphBoard now opens full-screen from your home screen icon, just like an installed app.

On iPhone/iPad, push notifications only work after you've added SilphBoard to your home screen this way — it's an Apple restriction on Safari, not something SilphBoard can skip.

Turning on push notifications

Notifications are per-community and per-device. Once enabled, you'll get a push notification when an event for your community is starting, and when Pokédex upload windows open or close.

  1. Make sure a community is set in Trainer settings — this decides which events you're alerted about.
  2. On iPhone/iPad, install SilphBoard to your home screen first (see above).
  3. Tap Enable Notifications from the banner at the top of the page, or from Settings → Notifications, and allow the browser permission prompt.

You can check whether a device is subscribed, or turn notifications back off, any time from Settings → Notifications. Since subscriptions are per-device, you'll need to repeat this on each phone or computer you want alerts on.
